Health and Safety Policy Statement

InterPublic Urban Systems Ltd will act positively to minimise the incidence of all workplace risks as required by the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other associated legislation. All activities will be undertaken with regard to the Health & Safety of all staff, contractors and members of the public affected by its activities.

The aim is to achieve the highest standards of health and safety, by means of continuous improvements of standards, systematically removing the causes of accidents and ill health.

The organisation is committed to providing sufficient resources necessary to ensure that a high standard of health and safety is achieved. The safeguarding of people through Health and Safety management is important.

This policy will be reviewed annually or in the light of legislative or organisational changes .

Organisation of Health and Safety

  1. The Directors have overall responsibility for the Health, Safety and Welfare of all the company’s employees and visitors. The authority to implement the policy is designated to them.
  2. All employees shall take responsibility for their own Health and Safety and that of other persons who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work.
  3. All employees and contractors are expected to co- operate with the Company so far as is necessary to enable Health and / or Safety requirements to be performed or complied with.
  4. External contractors will be given sufficient information and supervision to ensure that they comply with the policy, this is contained in the Contractors Rule Book.
  5. The Company has appointed an external consultant to advise on Health and Safety issues and assists in meeting and where appropriate exceeding the minimum legal requirements.
  6. Emergency procedures are designed to ensure the safe access to and egress from the premises and to give warning of imminent danger.
  7. The Company will communicate with employees to promote and develop Health and Safety at work.

Arrangements for Health and Safety

  1. InterPublic Urban Systems Ltd will take all reasonably practicable steps to provide places at work that are safe and healthy and meet the health, safety and welfare needs of each member of staff.
  2. Management is responsible for the training and supervision of staff in their respective roles in accordance with health and safety matters.
  3. Risk Assessment is a key element of successful health and safety management. It requires all members of staff to be proactive, identify risks, and attempt to reduce them.
  4. Procedures will be implemented to ensure that all plant, machinery and equipment are suitable for the purpose for which they are intended.
  5. The Company will provide trained First Aiders to treat staff and visitors who require attention while on Company business.
  6. Detailed procedures will be contained in a Health and Safety Manual which will be updated on a regular basis.

Environmental Policy

InterPublic Urban Systems Ltd will make proper provision for the Health & Safety of their employees and others who may be affected by the companies activities. The company will endeavour to respect the environment by commitment to good environmental practices.

The company will set objectives and targets to improve on those current standards that they achieve by monitoring performance and auditing procedures. At the very minimum, the company’s standards will meet the Statutory and Industry Standards as laid down, wherever possible achieving closed Ecocycles.

The company will have an aim of carrying out its business in such a manner as to reduce any harmful effects it may cause to the local and natural conditions in respect of Health, Safety and the Environment. The company will endeavour to make the most efficient and economic use of all resources. All new services and facilities that the company introduces will be assessed for their impact on the Environment, Health & Safety. The company will integrate it environmental Policy with its Safety Policy and CDM (Construction, Design & Management) Regulations with the objective of eliminating risk and protecting the environment by ensuring that the processes that the company uses sees the introduction of safer materials and systems that will minimise the risk of pollution.

The Directors are responsible for ensuring that the policy is enacted and integrated with the companies others systems.

All the employees are expected to accept their responsibility to work within the guidelines of the companies Health & Safety Policy, and carry out their duties with a full respect for the environment taking every care to dispose of all waste materials in the manner set out.

Consultation will take place with all the companies employees to stimulate continual improvements within the system.

The company will provide the appropriate training to ensure that all employees are fully aware of their responsibilities and ensure a safe working environment, that their actions whilst working in that environment make for the maximum provision for its long term sustainability.

Teamwork will be instilled as a primary objective within the company such that the Team, which shall include suppliers and sub-contractors, concentrates its efforts on improving the environment wherever possible.

Control Of Substances Hazardous To Health (COSHH)

The COSHH regulations require assessments to be carried out on all substances which may cause harm to employees, visitors and all persons who may come into contact with them.

  1. InterPublic UK Limited will continually assess all products and process in order to identify potential hazards.
  2. All employees and managers must constantly be aware of all processes or substances in their area of work that may or do come under these regulations and ensure that the appropriate and defined measures are taken to avoid any risk to health.
  3. If you become aware of any substance or process which may be causing a hazard, inform your Manager immediately so that further assessments can be carried out.
  4. Managers and Supervisors must ensure that the Safety Advisor is made aware of any change in process or introduction of any substance to any process before using such process or substance.
  5. The Safety Advisor will carry out COSHH assessment, and will assist Management in the implementation of points highlighted by the assessments.
  6. COSHHTo ensure your continued good health it may be necessary to carry out medical checks from time to time.
